Common causes clogged drains

Are you tired to unclog your drain every time? Most of the time it is easy to avoid a clogged sink. Read the tips below to avoid the risk of a clogged drain in the future

The sink is not a trash bin

One of the biggest causes of a clogged drain are leftovers. I recommend to wipe the plates clean with a paper towel and throw it into the trash bin. The advantage of this is that this also takes a portion of the fat.

Then rinse your dishes and pots and put them in the dishwasher (or you clean them manually). Also pay attention to the little scraps like breadcrumbs, spreads, seeds and nuts. These leftovers also can cause a blockage in your kitchen sink.

Should any leftover food in the sink traps make sure that an extra strainer over the drain . This allows the larger food particles to be stopped in any case. An additional filter is basically at any hardware store for sale.

Do not flush (liquid ) grease away

Fat / Grease has the ability to solidify quickly and adheres to all possible places in the drain. This is a major cause for tough blockages that are difficult to resolve. If you have accidentally flushed liquid by the sink, rinse with hot water after some time.

Your toilet is not a trash bin

The toilet is connected to the sewer and definitely not a trash bin. Tampons, sanitary napkins, condoms and diapers are therefore not suitable to flush through the toilet. Just throw it in the trash where it belongs. Do you ever throw the leftovers of a soup in the toilet?
Please don't!
The food and grease can cause blockages. Take the leftovers into the trash bin and wipe the pan clean with a paper towel.

Hair

Another major culprit for a clogged drain is human hair. It has the ability to bond with other hair and grease, causing a tough clog. Hair has the ability to attach to soap and other objects. This can cause a very tough clog which is hard to clear.

So make sure that other objects can not get into the shower drain. This will hit the sink clogged even faster with the result that you can unclog the discharge.

Get rid of the hair after every shower to avoid a blockage in your drain. So get the hairs from the shower drain! Additionally, when you will mop, hair will attach to the map.

Keep this in mind when you empties the bucket in the sink!

Preventive maintenance

Obviously, a good maintenance of the drain is also important so you can avoid a clogged drain. There are several products available in the store that can unclog the sink. The disadvantage of these products are the consequences for the environment and your health.

Consider carefully what product you use. With the above tips you can avoid in any case a lot of blockages which you may no longer need to unclog your sink and no longer suffering from a clogged shower drain.

There are also several useful remedies that are present in every household that you can unclog.
